As Christy approached her 40th birthday, she couldn’t help but be reminded that if she had been born with CF rather than Lucas odds are she wouldn’t be here today.  The average life expectancy for people living with CF has climbed dramatically but, depending on when you were born and if your type of CF is responsive to drugs called modulators, is still only 40 years old. Though the pace of scientific advances to unlock CF is staggering, far too many die young or are plagued by CF's many painful and time-consuming complications.  These include lung transplants, frequent hospitalizations, hours of daily treatments, new drugs with unknown side effects, and the fear of contracting long-lasting superbugs like the bacteria Pseudomonas that Lucas finally banished after 18-months of intensive treatments. 

The dream driving the WellsLee Foundation is Lucas and all living with CF benefiting from a cure so they can enjoy life’s beauty free from the constant physical and emotional challenges of this chronic genetic disease. The MORE BIRTHDAYS celebration was born to give our community a fun way of participating in this dream with us each year.

Our generous host, Walker Homestead, has donated their gorgeous farm with incredible wines, inspired food and unforgettable views for us to gather and celebrate.  A lover of all things California wine country, Christy attests their tagline, a little bit of Napa in Iowa’s countryside, is indeed what you will experience.

The bash is one you will not want to miss and includes creative wood-fired pizza with gluten-free options and farm-sourced accompaniment dinner, cash bar featuring fabulous Walker wine, craft beer, and our signature green cocktail, live music from Jake McVey, yard games, raffle prizes, and the chance to win $3,000 cash in our 50/50 drawing.
